The LRC congratulates recently graduated MS in Lighting student Emily Scircle for her first place win in the IES Philadelphia DesignWithLight competition. Emily designed a custom tabletop luminaire using techniques taught in the LRC’s Lighting Workshop course.
Emily designed her luminaire and entered the competition as part of the class requirements for the Lighting Workshop course. “I’m excited to have been chosen as the winner. I’m thankful that I was able to be educated by the knowledgeable professors at the Lighting Research Center and to have expanded my skill set to have the ability to create art that is not only thought provoking, but also a functional lighting fixture,” Emily said.
DesignWithLight is a student lighting design competition organized by the Philadelphia Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) to raise awareness and understanding of the lighting design profession within the student community.
