The Lighting Minor

The LRC administers the lighting degree program at RPI. We have been offering premier education in the field of lighting since 1990 with the mission of educating the future leaders in lighting.

A graduate-level master's degree and an undergraduate minor are available for those wishing to pursue study in the field of lighting.

Undergraduate Lighting Minor

This 15-credit study gives students the awareness and the confidence to extend their creative work through the controlled use of light.

The minor in lighting gives students the awareness and the confidence to extend their creative work through controlled use of light. The program covers human responses to light, both visual and non-visual, and the means by which light is produced and controlled. Interactions of light with form, texture, and color are examined in the contexts of daylight, electric lighting, and their integration. The Lighting minor requires 15 credits.
