Two New Organizations Join Lighting Research Center Partners Program

The LRC welcomes the Swedish Energy Agency, headquartered in Eskilstuna, Sweden, and iGuzzini, headquartered in Recanati, Italy, as the newest members of the LRC Partners Program.

Swedish Energy Agency logoThe Swedish Energy Agency is a government organization focused on Sweden’s national energy policy issues and promoting the development of an energy infrastructure that is environmentally and economically sustainable.

The LRC will work with the Swedish Energy Agency (SEA) to enhance and supplement SEA’s energy-efficiency research and outreach education efforts, as well as explore the development of new technology opportunities in such areas as daylight harvesting and solid-state lighting. The partnership also is in alignment with the SEA’s broader international scope of energy research collaborations to increase use of renewable energy sources and develop new, more efficient energy technologies and systems.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to support the Swedish Energy Agency’s goal of becoming the lighting research and education hub for all of Sweden,” said LRC Director Mark Rea, Ph.D.

“The Swedish Energy Agency looks forward to collaborating with the Lighting Research Center to enhance our efforts to promote efficient and sustainable use of lighting,” said Andres Muld, Head of the Energy Efficient Department, The Swedish Energy Agency.

iGuzzini logoiGuzzini illuminazione spa is a leading global lighting design and manufacturing company with subsidiaries throughout the world.

“The LRC is very excited to partner with iGuzzini, a company that truly values lighting research and education and strives to help others understand the aspects related to the human response to light,” said Rea. “The LRC will work to provide potential customers of iGuzzini with the latest and best technical information on lighting products and applications, including their impact on human health and well-being.”

With LRC’s technical knowledge about lighting systems and devices coupled with iGuzzini’s luminaire design skills, there is great potential to develop a new generation of beautiful, functional, high-performance architectural lighting fixtures, according to Rea.

“iGuzzini’s philosophy is that light is more than technology. Light represents culture, thoughts, and emotions, and it controls our biological clocks,” said Adolfo Guzzini, iGuzzini illuminazione president. “The more we understand about light, the better we can integrate light and architecture through industrial design. We look forward to collaborating with the LRC to enhance our lighting knowledge and to incorporate the latest research into our products and our outreach education efforts.”

In addition to Swedish Energy Agency and iGuzzini, current LRC partners include AES Latin America, California Energy Commission, Con Edison, GE Lighting, New York State Energy Research & Development Authority, OSRAM SYLVANIA, Inc., Philips Lighting, Swedish Energy Agency, United States Environmental Protection Agency, WattStopper, and Xcel Energy.
