Transportation Lighting Alliance Releases Reports to Public

The Transportation Lighting Alliance (TLA) has released more reports regarding some of its research into lighting for vehicles and roadways. Reports include: Vehicle Forward Lighting; Optimization of Forward Lighting; Spectral Effects of LED Forward Lighting; Visibility Along High-Speed Curves; and Dynamic Lighting Conditions and Visibility.

TLA is a group of vehicle lighting manufacturers, government agencies, and the Lighting Research Center (LRC).  Full story. . .

Alertness at Night: Factors Affecting the Future of Lighting Design

The Lighting Research Center explores the link between light and health. With our global society, many workers and business travelers need to be alert at night or under different time zones. The body’s “master clock” is strongly influenced by the 24-hour cycle of light and dark. Therefore, lighting designs that achieve the objectives of alertness and circadian regulation would be a boon to those who find themselves out of sync with the standard sleep/wake routine or the local time zone.

Recent research from the Lighting Research Center is helping the lighting community get closer to achieving those objectives.  Full story. . .

New Career Opportunities at the Lighting Research Center

The LRC is expanding its staff and is looking for the right people to fill several research and management positions at multiple levels. Research areas include light and health, solid state, transportation, energy efficiency, daylighting, technology transfer, and more.

This is a rare opportunity to join the world's leading university-based research center devoted to lighting.

LED Lighting Institute

LED Lighting Institute is a hands-on seminar.LEDs, or light-emitting diodes, are the next generation of lighting. The rapidly evolving technology is drawing a lot of attention, and many lighting professionals are eager to use it in a variety of applications, from signs and signals to illumination.

To nurture this promising technology properly, the Lighting Research Center and its LED industry program, the Alliance for Solid-State Illumination Systems and Technologies (ASSIST), are showing people how this important technology works in the real world. Their twice-yearly LED Lighting Institute brings people from all over the world together for a three-day, hands-on seminar.

The next LED Lighting Institute is set for September 18-20, and a few seats are still available.  Full story. . .
