Lighting Metrics
The LRC is creating new lighting metrics - redefining the units and tools used to measure lighting quantity and quality. In order to maximize the acceptance of energy-efficient lighting systems, we must have new and better ways to measure how good these lighting systems are. We must know not only how much light a system will produce, but also how well the light it produces will meet the needs of the people who will use it. The new metrics we develop will allow people to compare lighting products more easily so they can choose the best for their particular application. They will also assist government regulators and lighting organizations in developing standards for future construction.
