LRC Partner Education Program
The LRC will be offering a series of educational sessions in order to reach a broader range of employees of our Partner organizations and keep them up to date on the work that we are doing to advance the effective use of light! These educational activities are open only to our Partner organizations, and they are designed to help those within our Partner oganizations learn more about us and the work that we do.
The LRC Partner Education Program series consists of three components:
- Regular interactive webinars,
- a LinkedIn group for sharing information, holding discussions, and answering questions,
- and a yearly on-site educational program at the LRC.
Webinars
The LRC will hold a series of webinars, exclusively for LRC Partner employees. These sessions will directly deliver the latest research results and give participants a chance to ask questions. Each webinar will include one hour of presentations from LRC faculty and researchers followed by a Q&A session. One CEU (Continuing Education Unit) will be awarded for each webinar attended. To participate, Partner employees will only need a computer with Internet access and phone to conference into the talk. Participants will receive an email with full details upon registration.
The webinars will be offered free of charge to employees of our Partner organizations.

LinkedIn Group
To provide information on a broader range of topics than we can cover in the webinars, and to allow a forum for Partner employees to interact with each other and with LRC faculty and staff, we have created a LinkedIn group that Partner employees can join. Videos of the webinars will be posted in the group for those who missed the original presentation or wish to revisit the material. We will also post follow-up information on webinar topics and results from other research happening at the LRC. Members of the group should also feel free to post questions, comments, or information that they would like to share.

Annual Partners Event at the LRC
The LRC holds an annual Partner's Event that brings together representatives from all of our Partner organizations for networking, research updates, and planning activities. Participants in the LRC's Partner Education Program are invited to attend this annual event where we will have educational sessions building on the topics presented in the webinars and through the LinkedIn group. There will be interactive sessions with faculty where Partner Education Program participants will be able to take part in research, ask questions, and learn more about what interests them.
The next Partners Event will be held at the LRC in the spring of 2013, and it will mark the LRC's 25th anniversary! Look for upcoming notices with the official date and more details coming soon.

Does lighting help to improve safety? It seems like this should be an obvious conclusion, but is it supported by research? This webinar will review recent research exploring the connection between lighting and safety. This will include safety on roadways and streets at night as well as safety in interior environments including preventing falls among older populations. Tune in to learn about using light to improve safety.
With the growing interest in LEDs and the fast pace of their market introduction, there are several areas where ongoing research is needed to help ensure that products will meet customers' expectations. This webinar will review the latest research results from the LRC on several issues involving LED lighting systems, including dimming, flicker, the performance of integral lamps, and overall system reliability.
There is growing interest among researchers and the public about the effects of light at night on health and well-being. This includes the effects of watching television or working on a computer at night. In this webinar, LRC researchers will review some of the claims being made about the potential effects of light at night and will present research results that will help to clarify these claims and debunk the myths.
