Education:
M.S., lighting, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; B.S., electrical and mechanical engineering, National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico.

Research interests:
Solid-state lighting, LED performance, energy-efficient lighting design, photometry, the spectral effects of lighting, and education.

Background:
As research assistant at the LRC during 1999-2001, helped in the design and conduction of lab and field experiments, and performed lighting design and evaluation for several projects. As principal of design for Octavo Arte, 1995-1999, designed lighting and control systems for high-end commercial and residential applications. As project manager for Genertek, 1993-1995, assisted in energy management projects for commercial and industrial applications, lighting design, and energy efficiency education.

Professional memberships:
Association of Energy Engineers, Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, Society of Light and Lighting (UK).

Awards:
Walsh-Weston Award by the Society of Light and Lighting, IIDA Mohawk Hudson Section Award, Litecontrol Scholarship.
