Mariana G. Figueiro, Ph.D.

B.S. in architecture and urbanism, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil; M.S. in lighting, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Ph.D. in Multidisciplinary Science, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Research interests:
Photobiology research, energy efficient lighting (market transformations), lighting applications, human factors in lighting, non-visual effects of light, circadian phototransduction, effects of light on sleep, effects of light on alertness, lighting for older adults

LRC Light and Health Program director and professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Holds a bachelorís in architectural engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and a masterís in lighting and a doctorate in multidisciplinary science from Rensselaer. Her masterís and Ph.D. dissertation research focused on the area of human circadian response to light. Figueiro is the recipient of the 2007 NYSTAR James D. Watson Award, the 2008 Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, and the 2010 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute James M. Tien í66 Early Career Award for Faculty.
