Education:
B.S. in architecture and urbanism, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil; M.S. in lighting, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Ph.D. in Multidisciplinary Science, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Research interests:
Photobiology research, energy efficient lighting (market transformations), human factors in lighting, lighting applications.
Background:
Coordinated design specifications and on-site inspection and supervision of major projects (architectural, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC) in buildings under construction while working for a construction company. Supervised quality of services developed by contractors in buildings under construction. Worked as an experimenter for the project conducted at Memorial Hospital. South Bend, IN, which was the basis for the Master's thesis. Participated in the development of the 9th edition of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) Handbook.
